Kurzfassung englisch:
Today, train passenger exchange is mostly insufficient. On the one hand different entrance areas cause difficulties, which mean both restrictions of comfort and consequences of the modal split. Therefore the passenger exchange is influenced considerably. On the other hand the interior of coaches plays a major role regarding the passengers´ comfort as well as exchange time. Unfavourable interior concepts, which are often used today, contribute to a tailback of the boarding passengers, which leads to an increase of the stop-over time in the stations and so also the punctuality is negatively affected. If the interiors of coaches are optimised the stop-over time will be reduced to a third on the average. For the quantification of the influence of the interior on the stop-over time, a research work has been made on the Institute for Railway Engineering, Traffic Economics and Ropeways. For this research work 13000 passenger exchange processes were recorded and evaluated. These data collections were made at German, Austrian and Swiss railway stations and nearly every vehicle type used today was analysed.
