Kurzfassung englisch:
Supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Traffic, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) an Austrian research project examined different road sections of the Austrian high-level road system with different road surface types of different ages concerning their rolling noise emissions. The analysis of the data showed a clear tendency: the investigated specially optimized noise-reducing surface courses LDDH 8 (Noise-reducing Thin Layer) and LSMA 8 (Noise-reducing Stone Mastic Asphalt) exhibit up to 3 dB(A) lower rolling noise emissions in comparison with their standard counterparts. The results of the examined Porous Asphalt layers (PA 11) lie around further 2 dB(A) lower and show a noise reduction potential up to 5 dB(A) in comparison with the reference surface layer AB 11 (Asphalt Concrete). The investigation of the long-term noise emission behaviour is pointing out the big advantage of Porous Asphalt layers (PA 11) in the first years of their lifetime. But after a period of around 5 years their noise emission performance is in the same range as the other investigated surface courses. In contrast to this the two noise-reducing surface courses LDDH 8 and LSMA 8 could be found in the quietest range over their whole lifetime.
