"Transnationale Konzerne vs. lokale Betriebe - Der Einfluss der Verkehrsplanung auf unsere Lebensqualität";

What has transport planning to do with our quality of life, and how do economic companies fit into this context?
The state of our world is devastating!
What was done until now for the continuity of our only earth - and therefore for the survival of all mankind - looks irrelevant at best.
In reality the condition of the earth deteriorates constantly.
Do we have to accept this fact fatefully or are there any possibilities to provide our children with a world full of miracles?
This work attempts to analyze the actual condition and offers possibilities, how sustainable acting can be implemented in all our lives.
Basic conditions are analyzed at the beginning. Since money governs the world, the basic condition at the moment is the economic regime of this earth.
Philosophers and economists such as Adam Smith or David Ricardo described the economy in their theories as absolutely necessary for mankind and lifted it up into the sky.
But in the 20th century - the changes started right after the Second World War and culminate in today’s World Trade Organisation - the economy abandoned its high ideals and transformed itself into the exact opposite. The economy does not serve the people any longer, but is degenerated to a pure self-purpose.
Within these basic conditions only certain economic systems can exist. It is discussed, how and why these systems function, and who the beneficiary of theses systems is.
Since the structures are created to serve the large ones in the economy, the corporations succeeded. The direct consequence of it is that these international companies have already more power than most nation states.
This work outlines how transnational corporations accomplish to ruling and changing the world to meet their needs.
It is a fact that local shops still exist next to international corporations. How long they can stand their ground however, is questionable.
One part of this thesis deals with the complex behaviour of dynamic transport systems and with the inability of leading states, the European Union and Austria for example, to understand them, not to mention to control them.
The last part of this work shows what kind of effects these devastating circumstances have on our life and our future, and what has to be done to assure there will still be a future for succeeding generations.
The structures, which rule the world today, didn’t emerge by themselves, but were made by humans.
The transport system also belongs to the structures created by humans.
And therefore this system and the economic system can be transformed back by people to lasting structures suitable for humans.
This requires a responsible citizen to stop being a "consumer" and to become again conscious of his responsibility. Again the citizen must be held liable for his actions and start to behave like a citizen again - meaning, to act instead of reacting. Then nothing will be in the way of a future worth living.
Cheap transport systems are the engine of the economy. The economy depends on low to absolutely no costs of transport. This was the only way "globalization" became possible at all.
Conscious citizens and politicians must take up these circumstances and again create structures suitable for humans.
In transport systems this can take place only over the "polluter-pays-principle". Simply stated, that means the one who causes the costs, pays for it.
The economy must be controlled by humans again, meaning localization instead of globalization.
For that purpose courageous politicians, must look further than the next legislative period, in order to implement proper laws, no matter how unpopular in the economy. Beyond that a democracy is in demand again, to which the citizens can and want to contribute actively. This requires above all intact families, communities and regions where once again humans count and not products.
