Kurzfassung englisch:
Pavement performance prediction models for different types of pavement performance characteristics are a key component of advanced computer-assisted pavement management systems employing optimisation procedures for identifying the most effective maintenance strategies. The Austrian PMS seeks to predict pavement performance for individual road sections on the basis of section-specific deterministic performance functions. For this purpose, performance functions relating to specific performance characteristics have to be fitted to section-specific input parameters and pavement condition information by means of special calibration methods (calibration factors and calibration vectors). This section-specific calibration has a significant influence on the outcome of PMS analysis, which comprises a variety of calculation algorithms and processes (including the assessment of pavement condition, benefit-cost analysis, optimisation, etc.). Based on these calculations, measures are proposed that are tailored to each individual section. Aggregation of the results also permits predictions of the future performance and costs of the entire road network examined. This provides a basis for decision-making at the network level and for further investigations to be conducted at project level.
